Meet The Team

Dr. Christopher Nguan
Dr. Christopher Nguan is a full-time surgeon-scientist in the department of Urologic Sciences specializing in kidney transplantation. He is highly qualified to lead this study based on his expertise in recipient evaluation and wait list eligibility assessment. Dr. Nguan has research interests in healthcare technology development and the incorporation of technology translation into clinical practice. He will be one of the two doctors performing the transplants.

Dr. David Harriman
Dr. David Harriman is full-time kidney transplant surgeon-scientist in the Department of Urologic Sciences, with a background in professional athletics and interests in clinical initiatives to improve outcomes for kidney transplant recipients. He will be responsible for determining initial transplant eligibility as well as one of the two doctors performing the transplants and assisting with successful implementation of the study.

Colin Davey
Colin is a 3rd year medical student at UBC with a Masters in Kinesiology (MKin) from the University of Calgary. He is a certified exercise physiologist (CSEP-CEP), which has allowed him to work with many clinical populations. He is passionate about physical activity and the use of prehabilitation and exercise to improve patient outcomes post operatively.

Katie Lyman
Katie is a 1st year medical student at UBC with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Queens University. She has extensive experience as a CrossFit coach and personal trainer, working with diverse populations. She understands the importance of health and wellness and is a firm believer in exercise to improve patient quality of life.
Steven Tang
Steven is the Research Coordinator for the Department of Urologic Sciences. He has extensive experience with patient recruitment, administration of study protocols, data analysis and knowledge translation of study findings.
Erika Escamilla
Erika is a Research Assistant for the Department of Urologic Sciences. She is an International Medical Graduate and has experience with patient recruitment, data collection, analysis, and administrative duties to support research projects.
