This Privacy Policy outlines our policies and how we collect and use Your information when you use our Project Fit Kidney application. We use your personal information for research and to improve the Application.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

 

Application refers to Project Fit Kidney, the software program provided by the Fit Kidney research team.

Research Team (referred to as either "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Project Fit Kidney research team lead by Dr. Chris Nguan.

Country refers to: British Columbia, Canada

Device means any cellphone.

Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

UBC refers to: University of British Columbia

Service refers to the Application.

You means the individual accessing or using the Service.

Information Collected while Using the Application

Project Fit Kidney app collects location data to enable the Six Minute Walk test only when the application is open. We may collect, with Your prior permission:

• Information regarding your location 

• Physical activity

We require this information for research purposes as has been previously discussed with You. The information is kept in secure servers according to UBC’s research procedure. You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through Your Device settings and by opting out of the research study.

We DO NOT collect any background data such as location. The application must remain open for the whole duration of the tests.

Use of Your Personal Data

The research team may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

To contact You: If needed, we'll reach out to you through email, phone calls, text messages, or other electronic means, like push notifications from a mobile app about updates or informative messages about the research, features, or security updates.

To incorporate Your feedback: To attend and manage Your feedback to Us.

For research purposes: We may use Your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying trends, and scientific publications.

Your information will only be accessible by the research team and will not be shared with any other parties.

Retention of Your Personal Data

The research team will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and with accordance to UBC’s research procedures.

Delete Your Personal Data

You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You by contacting the research team.

Security of Your Personal Data

We value the protection of your Personal Data, but keep in mind that no transmission over the internet or electronic storage method is 100% safe. While we try to use commercially accepted methods to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its complete protection.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
